My opinion on libido pills
Here’s my personal opinion – I really don’t agree with them.
Why, you ask?
It screams band-aid fix to me. Because libido isn’t a simple, quick-fix issue, and these libido supplements aren’t really going to be getting to the root cause of someone’s low libido. It’s such a generalised treatment.
A low libido is a symptom of a DEEPER issue, and we should investigate that.
Not to mention, low libido can actually be an issue that someone may need therapy/couples counselling to aid with – and these pills are marketed so well that some people may really put all their hopes on it, and feel really down on themselves when they don’t get the desired outcomes.
I find the marketing strategies for these can also be super triggering – as if having a lower libido (which can actually be normal at stages in our life) is problem that needs to be fixed, and there is something wrong with us if we have libido issues.
There are so many things these pill’s won’t fix, like…
- Being exhausted
- Breastfeeding hormones
- Under-functioning thyroid
- Being touched out
- High stress levels
- Lack of emotional support
- Partner resentment
- Low vitality
- Low self-esteem
- History of trauma
What are your thoughts? When you see them being advertised, what comes up for you?
Disclaimer: I am not judging ANYONE who takes them, or is wanting to try them, they are certainly not bad for you!*
